IMPERIAL SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES DELTASTREAM AT JAVAONE
Revolutionary Internet Information Distribution Platform Launched
San Francisco, California, June 5, 2000 - Imperial Software Technology (IST) today
announced the availability of DeltaStream, a revolutionary Internet information distribution
platform for the dissemination of near real-time data. Leveraging Java and XML technologies,
DeltaStream is a highly scaleable software platform for distributing data updates over the Internet
to a very large number of clients. DeltaStream requires no special hardware to support its
distribution and multicasting functionality, instead exploiting a novel software architecture
that supports "soft-multicasting". DeltaStream applications include stock price tickers,
live sports event commentary and scores, live news feeds, e-commerce, interactive auctions, and
remote system telemetry.
DeltaStream is the infrastructure being used to provide live Webcast commentary on events such
as soccer matches to sports fans by Sportal.com, a leading global supplier of interactive sports content.
Alex Caccia, Vice President of Applications at Sportal.com said:
"DeltaStream powers MatchTracker, Sportal's unique live commentary system. DeltaStream's
revolutionary technology enables Sportal to bring soccer action as it happens to hundreds of
thousands of fans throughout Europe and the world."
Derek Lambert, president and CEO of Imperial Software Technology said:
"The DeltaStream platform offers a high-performance technological advance to standard web
servers for the distribution of time-critical information. Coupled with its ability to distribute
live information to multiple delivery vehicles such as active browsers and WAP cellular phones,
DeltaStream offers a huge competitive advantage to information providers."
For more information see the DeltaStream web site.
Pricing and Availability
DeltaStream is available immediately. Pricing is based on an initial licence fee, and is related to
the maximum number of client nodes supported. IST also provides specialized application customization
services to organizations that wish to deploy DeltaStream.
