IMPERIAL SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY LAUNCHES MOTIF TO JAVA MIGRATION
SERVICES
Palo Alto, California, March 28, 2003 - Imperial Software Technology
(IST) today announced the launch of its Motif to Java Migration Solution,
a complete and cost effective solution for the rapid and automated
conversion of legacy C/C++ X/Motif based applications to the Java
Platform.
Based on a blend of tools and services centered on IST's X-Designer and
Visaj development environments together with a suite of in-house
translation tools, this migration solution significantly speeds the
ordinarily complex Motif to Java migration process. This unique
technology addresses the conversion to Java of both the
application's
Motif-based GUI front-end and the back-end toolkit dependant code
significantly reducing the amount of re-coding work required to complete
such a migration.
"Over many years there has been massive investment in the development of
UNIX and Linux based applications using the Motif and X Window System
toolkits" explained Neil Smyth, Director of Business Development at
IST. "We are now seeing increasing demand to move those legacy
applications forward to Java whilst maintaining those initial
investments. Our migration solution directly addresses this
requirement".
By automatically translating the maximum amount of existing
code IST's
proven Motif to Java migration technology preserves investment in legacy
applications by avoiding the necessity of major code rewrites.
"Customers are finding out very quickly after talking to us that Java
migration objectives they had considered prohibitive in terms of effort
and expense are, in fact, well within their reach" added Smyth.
