Linux World Editors Choice Award   Trophy

X-Designer has won the first LinuxWorld Editors' Choice Award in the Development Environment/Tools category.

LinuxWorld magazine's esteemed panel of judges named X-Designer as the winner of the LinuxWorld Editors' Choice Award in the Development Environment/Tools category. The Editors' Choice Awards honor the key individuals and companies that have contributed to the success and progress of Linux, and recognize the best Linux developer products in a variety of categories.

A well-rounded panel of judges -- the editors and writers (many of whom are expert Linux developers!) who bring you LinuxWorld magazine each month -- considered a wide array of commercial and free software products. Judges participated in several rounds of votes and runoffs to determine which products and companies most deserved to win.

In LinuxWorld, the article The stories behind the Editor's Choice Awards says:

"X-Designer: X-Designer is a splendid, robust tool for creating graphical applications for Linux and other Unix environments. It's one of the most feature-rich and powerful visual development environments for building GUI applications. It offers drag-and-drop simplicity for designing a custom user interface for your application. It generates code for C, C++, and Java.

We especially liked the fact that you design a GUI application by visually building a hierarchy of widgets such as forms, buttons, etc. Then you can customize the visual layout of your widgets and have X-Designer generate the code for you. It even supports the Microsoft Foundation Classes, should you suffer a temporary lapse of judgement and decide to port your application to Windows."

The awards ceremony took place at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Jose, California, on Wednesday, August 11, 1999.
